Player profile

The player profile is a page on the CivBot site with one player's games, rating and style for a chosen period. Only someone who has signed in with Discord can see it: a link to a profile takes a guest to the sign-in and brings them back to that profile afterwards. A guest can only open the home page and try a save. See Sign-in and privacy.

On this page: How to open a profile, The header and the strategy row, Period, The “Form” card, The “Games” card

How to open a profile

You can open a profile in three ways:

  • Through a player's name. Player names on the site lead to the profile: in the rating on the overview, in the game's player list and in other places. Pointing at a name or focusing on it shows a short player card with a “View profile” button (on your own card, “View your profile”). On a phone, a tap opens the profile right away.
  • Through search. In the top bar search, pick a player from the list or press Enter on a highlighted player row. Enter with a name typed but no row highlighted opens nothing.
  • Through Discord. The user menu has a “Profile on site” item.

The winner's name in a game row or card in the profile history leads to that game's page, not to a profile. The profile then opens with the button on the short card.

The “Profile on site” item in Discord

This works on the server the CivBot site is connected to. Right-click a player, choose “Apps” and then “Profile on site”. The bot replies privately with a mention of the player and a “Profile on site” button with the 🌐 emoji. The language of the label depends on your Discord language: in Ukrainian it's “Профіль на сайті”, in Russian “Профиль на сайте”, and in English “Profile on site”. The button opens the profile on the site.

Next to it is the “Show Stats” item, which shows the “Player Stats” card in Discord. The card hasn't gone anywhere. See Player stats.

The header and the strategy row

The header has an avatar, the name as a large heading, and a “Last played” line with the full date, for example “October 18, 2026”. If there are no games, there is no line. Under them are the period button and the strategy row.

The strategy row is built from the saves attached to the player's games in the period. It has two groups of chips:

  • “Policy openings” are chips like “Tradition · 3”, where the number is the number of games. A branch is counted only if it's clear which one was opened first;
  • “Ideologies” are “Freedom”, “Order” or “Autocracy” with the number of games. An ideology is counted only if it was chosen before the save's turn.

The branches are called “Tradition”, “Liberty”, “Honor”, “Piety”, “Patronage”, “Aesthetics”, “Commerce”, “Exploration” and “Rationalism”.

The caption “Based on 6 recorded games” shows how many games gave data: the larger of the two numbers is taken. Only games with a save are counted. A group that the saves don't record is replaced by the text “No data yet”. Next to the caption is an ⓘ icon “Policy openings and ideologies” with a short explanation.

If there are no saves in the period, the strategy row says “No saves available for this period.” If there are saves but they gave nothing, it says “Nothing to show yet: this period's saves gave no policy openings or ideologies.”

Period

Everything on the profile, including form, wins and games, is shown for one period. Until you choose one, it's the active season, and without an active season it's the newest season. If there are no seasons, it's “All time”. Next to the period button is the caption “Profile period”. The button shows a season name, a year, a date range such as “Oct 1–18, 2026”, or “All time”.

The button opens a panel with two groups:

  • “Quick ranges” are “This month”, “Last month”, “Last 90 days” and “All time”. “Last 90 days” means 90 calendar days, including today.
  • “Season or year” are two drop-down lists. Each shows the selected value: a season name and a year. Seasons go from newest to oldest, and the active one is marked, for example “Season 1 · current”. If there are no options, the list is disabled.

Next to them is a one-month calendar with “Previous month” and “Next month” buttons. The week starts on Monday. The first press on a date starts a range, and the second applies it: the earlier of the two dates becomes the start. Two identical dates give one day. A custom range can't be longer than 3,700 days; the site replaces a longer range with the default period. Days are counted in your device's time zone.

A quick range, a season or a year applies at once and closes the panel. Esc closes it too, and the focus goes back to the period button. More about seasons: Seasons.

The page address keeps the period, the search and the filters, so you can share the link with someone who has already signed in to the site. The “With you” filter in such a link means whoever opens it.

The “Form” card

The “Form” card has a summary on the left and a chart on the right. It counts only the rated games of one season: the season of the period, or, if the period isn't a season, the season of the last rated game in it.

The summary has these parts:

Part What it shows
“Rating at period end” The rating as a large number
Change “+72”, “−18” or “±0” and “this period”; a gain is green
Get started “Was 1,300 at the start of the period”
Caption “Rated FFA · Season 1”
Game summary The number of games, the number of wins and the share of wins
Bars Colored bars for the results of the latest games, from oldest to newest
“Last win” A link to the game: the nation, the rating change, “Game 8421 · Oct 18” and “1,300 → 1,362”

A share that would round to 0% when there is a win is shown as 1%, and one that would round to 100% when there is a loss is shown as 99%. If there are games but no wins, the block says “No wins in this period yet.” Without rated games, only dashes and the “Rated FFA” caption remain. For how rating changes, see How rating is calculated.

The “Rating over time” chart

The chart shows the rating after each rated game of the season in the period. A point's tooltip says “Game 8421 · Oct 18”, the rating change, and “Win” or “Loss”. The “Start” label and the player's name show the rating at the beginning and at the end.

By default, the chart has lines for up to five of the most frequent opponents. The “Hide frequent opponents” button hides them, and “Show frequent opponents” brings them back. The button is there only when such lines exist. Your choice is remembered in this browser. Pointing at an opponent's line shows their name, their rating that day and the hint “Click for the player card”. A click, Enter or Space opens the opponent's short card. Without rated games, the chart says “No rated games in this period.”

The “How … wins” card

The “How Orion wins” card shows which kinds of victory the player won rated games with. The caption has the number of wins, “Rated FFA” and the range of days. The five rows go in this order: “Recognition”, “Science”, “Domination”, “Diplomacy”, “Culture”. Each has a bar and an entry like “3 of 7”, and a win type with no wins has a dash. Without wins, the card says “No rated wins in this period.”

The “You & …” card

The “You & Orion” card appears only on someone else's profile, and only when you have already played with the bot on this server. It isn't on your own profile, and the “How … wins” card takes the whole row there. It shows avatars, the number of shared games with their formats, for example “FFA / Patch”, and three numbers: “Orion wins”, “Your wins” and “Others win”. At the bottom is “Last together” with the date. Without shared games, the card says “No games together in this period.”

The “Our games” button leaves only the games you share in the “Games” card, in all formats, with no search and no result filter, and scrolls the page to it.

The “Games” card

The “Games” card lists the player's finished games for the period, newest first. Its caption shows the period and “Newest first”. It shows 20 games at a time, and the “Load more games” button gives you the rest.

On a wide screen there is a “Table” / “Cards” switch. Your choice is remembered in the browser, and the table is the default. On a narrower screen it's always cards.

The game row and card

The table has the columns “Game / Date ↓”, “Civilization”, “Result” and “Rating change”. The game card carries the same information: “Game 8421”, “Vega won” or “Won · Science”, the rating change and the caption “1,362 after”. If the nation is unknown, it says “Not recorded”. The row leads to the game page, and pointing at the winner's name shows a short player card. A file icon marks a save, and the text “Save attached · turn {number}” or “No save attached” appears in a small window when you point at it, focus on it or tap it. See Game page and Games on the site.

The “Search game, player or civilization…” field takes up to 64 characters. The result appears a moment after the last key or on Enter, and the “Clear search” button erases the query. A game matches when the query:

  • matches its number;
  • is contained in the name of any player of the game, ignoring case and diacritics;
  • names the nation the profile owner played in this game (from 2 characters).

The “Players” list shows up to 8 people, first those with the most shared games. From 3 letters, the search covers all players the server knows. A shorter query searches among opponents and by exact name match. Picking a player clears the field and adds them to the people filter. If the list doesn't load, the site says “Couldn’t load players.”

Filters

The filter menu has two choices:

  • Format is “All formats” or a format of the player's games in the period, for example “FFA · Patch”. With no choice, the site shows “FFA · Patch” if there are such games, and all formats otherwise.
  • Result is “All results”, “Wins” or “Losses”.

The people filter is shown as “With you” and “With Vega” chips. The “Remove filter With Vega” button removes a chip. You can pick up to 7 people, and a game must include all of them. On your own profile, “With you” isn't available.

Card bottom

Under the list the site says “Showing 20 of 86 games” and gives a “Load more games” button. If all games fit on one page, it says “All 12 games in this period”. After everything is loaded, it says “You’ve reached the beginning of Orion’s history.”, and while loading, “Loading more games…”.

What can go wrong

  • “Player not found”. Under the heading it says “There’s no player with this link.” The site doesn't know the number in the link. The “Back to overview” button takes you back to the overview.
  • “Couldn’t load this profile.” Press “Retry”. If only a part failed to load, the site says “Couldn’t load this part of the profile.”
  • The “Games” card is empty. The site says “No games match “Kai”.” and suggests searching for another player, nation or game number. The “Clear search” button resets the query. Other answers are “No games match these filters.”, “No games with Vega in this period.” and “No games in this period.”
  • An error in the “Games” card. The site says “Couldn’t load games.”, “Couldn’t update results. Showing previous results.” or “Couldn’t load more games.”
  • Discord replies “The site does not show this server's games.” The “Profile on site” item works only on the server the site is connected to.
  • Discord replies “This player has no games on the site yet.” The player isn't yet among those whose games the site shows.
